Camp Lejeune Lawsuit Updates
The Camp Lejeune water contamination lawsuits are progressing, with many claims still unsettled and early trials nearing. Legal complexities continue as health impacts are assessed.
Background
In 1942, Camp Lejeune was established as a military training facility in North Carolina. By 1982, contaminants were found in its water treatment plants. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry identified three water systems supplying the base with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE), benzene, and vinyl chloride, affecting inhabitants from 1953 to 1987. As a result, lawsuits have been filed seeking compensation for the health impacts caused by this contamination.
