The Expert Institute's Scholarship

In 2015, The Expert Institute once again ran our now-annual Legal Blog Post Writing Contest. We received great submissions from law students all around the country – ranging from serious to lighthearted and everything in between. While dozens of submissions were considered, three posts stood head and shoulders about the rest. They truly deserved a place on The Expert Institute’s blog.

And the winners are:

1st place – Andrew Murray, Vanderbilt Law School – Owl Testify to That!

2nd Place – Anthony Copple, Northeastern University School of Law – Expert Contingency Fee Agreements and Galactic Conquest

3rd Place – Michael Fisher, William H. Bowen School of Law (University of Arkansas at Little Rock) – The Process of Employing Expert Witnesses in a Municipal Environmental Litigation Case

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the competition, as well as the institutions that shared this opportunity with their students, for making this year’s contest another success.

In addition to our Legal Blog Post Writing contest, 2015 also saw the introduction of The Expert Institute’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Scholarship. The response we received for this new scholarship was impressive, with a field of more than 300 applicants. Selecting a winner from so many qualified candidates was not easy. However, the winner deserves recognition for their truly outstanding academic accomplishments.

And the winner of The Expert Institute’s first-annual Healthcare and Life Sciences Scholarship is:

Austin Sim – M.D./J.D at the University Virginia School of Medicine and University of Virginia School of Law.

Austin is the first student in the University of Virginia’s history to pursue both his M.D. and J.D. simultaneously, through a program he helped develop.
