This case involves members of a family that were injured after being hit by a large delivery truck in a suburban supermarket parking lot. The truck was turning into the loading dock entrance of the parking lot. This area of the parking lot was also used as an additional exit for supermarket patrons. As the delivery truck turned into the lot, it collided with a mid-size sedan that was preparing to turn out of the parking lot. The collision killed the driver of the sedan and severely injured the other 3 family members in the vehicle. The truck driver alleged that the sedan was too far to the left of the driveway, causing the accident. The sedan passengers alleged that the truck driver did not slow down enough while making the turn. An expert in accident reconstruction was to review the data, determine how the accident played out, and determine liability for this accident.

Expert Witness Response E-139395

inline imageI have investigated many vehicle collisions in my 31 years as a police officer as well as in my private practice. I retired honorably from my police department where I was the commander of the county crash investigation unit. I commanded 60 specialized investigators in forensic collision reconstruction. Many of these were fatal collisions resulting in criminal charges and many were in civil court ending with favorable client results. The speeds of the vehicles may be able to be determined by range. Based on this brief information, I assume I would be able to draw a successful conclusion after my investigation.
