Prof. George Kardomateas has nearly four decades of experience in mechanical engineering spanning both metallic and composite materials. He received his MS and PhD in mechanical engineering from MIT. He is an active contributor to his field, having published extensively on a wide variety of topics, including fracture mechanics and fatigue behavior, damage tolerance, and failure characterization. Additionally, he is a member and fellow of several professional organizations, including, the American Society for Testing and Materials and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has had extensive research funding by numerous organizations, including by the U.S. Air Force and the Office of Naval Research. He has formerly served as a senior research engineer for General Motors Research Laboratories as well as academically as assistant and associate professor of mechanical engineering for Georgia Institute of Technology. Currently, he is an active researcher and professor of mechanical engineering at a technology university in Georgia.
