Prof. Christopher Hamner

Prof. Christopher Hamner in military history earned his AB in history from Dartmouth College, followed by a MA and a PhD in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His interests include war and the American society, the individual experience of combat, and the effects of technological change on the experience of warfare. Previously, he served as a lecturer at Appalachian State University, and a visiting professor of military strategy, planning an operations at the US Army War College. He currently serves as lead historian for two teaching American history programs in Virginia and Maryland, as well as an associate professor history at a university in Virginia.
