Mr. David Littlefield

Mr. David Littlefield has over 30 years of experience in the field of mechanical engineering. He received his BS, MS, and PhD in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a member of a number of professional societies including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Physical Society, National Defense Industrial Association, Hypervelocity Impact Society, and the United States Association for Computational Mechanics. He is highly respected in his field, being elected to the session chairman at the World Congress on Computational Mechanics in 2002 and as the mini-symposium organizer at the U.S. National Congress on Computational Mechanics in 2003 and 2005. Additionally, he was the session chairman of the International Ballistics Symposium in 1999 and 2002 for the National Defense Industrial Association and currently holds a position on the Shock Compressional Topical Group Nominating Committee of the American Physical Society. He formerly served as a research engineer and senior research engineer at Southwest Research Institute. This expert also spent time at the University of Texas at Austin where he was a research scientist at The Institute for Advanced Technology, engineering mechanics lecturer, and research scientist at the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. Additionally, he served as a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before moving to his current positions where he serves as the chairman of mechanical engineering at a university in Alabama and as a consultant of materials and mechanics for the U.S. Defense industry.
