Dr. Stephen Merola, MD has been a general surgeon for nearly two decades. He earned his BA in biology from Franklin and Marshall College and his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a residency in general surgery at New York University Medical Center and a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and robotic general surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. He is board-certified in general surgery and is active in his field as a member of societies such as the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and as the author of numerous publications. Formerly, this expert served as a clinical instructor of surgery for New York University School of Medicine and as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. He has also served as the director of the minimally invasive and bariatric surgery fellowship at New York Hospital Queens. Currently, he is an attending surgeon, the chief of general, minimally invasive, and bariatric surgery, and the vice-chairman of patient safety and quality at a hospital in New York. He is also an assistant professor of clinical surgery at an Ivy League medical school in New York.
