Dr. Sam Van Vactor

Dr. Sam Van Vactor earned his BS in economics from the University of Oregon, his MA in economics from the University of Washington and PhD from Cambridge University. He previously served as an instructor of economics at the University of Maryland and as an international economist at the US Treasury Department. He then went on to serve as a senior economist at the International Energy Agency in France and as the director of planning at the Oregon Department of Energy where he managed a group of professionals evaluating energy policy options. Currently, he is the president of an energy consultancy in Oregon where he directs strategic studies for energy companies and government agencies and investigates various energy industries and the transformation of their markets.
