Dr. Paul S. Appelbaum has 45 years of experience in the field of Psychiatry. He earned his A.B. in Biology from Columbia College and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. After completing his residency in Psychiatry at Massachusetts the Mental Health Center and Harvard Medical School, he went on to complete a fellowship in Mental Health Administration. This expert is board certified in Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. This expert previously held roles as the Director and Executive Officer of the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, as the A.F. Zeleznik Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and as the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at UMass Memorial Health. Currently, he serves as the Elizabeth K. Dollard Professor of Psychiatry, Medicine, and Law, and as the Director of the Division of Psychiatry, Law, and Ethics at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is also an Attending and Research Psychiatrist with New York Presbyterian Hospital and the New York State Psychiatric Institute, and a Faculty Associate at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies.
