Dr. Patrick Juola has internationally noted expertise in text analysis, security, forensics, and stylometry. He earned his BS from Johns Hopkins University and his PhD in computer science from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he also earned a certificate in cognitive science. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Forensic Examiners, the Association for Linguistic Evidence, and the Linguistic Society of America. This expert has authored 1 book, over 20 book chapters, and over 100 scientific publications on topics related to forensic linguistics. He has also received a number of grants for his research related to linguistic complexity and authorship, one of his most notable projects as having identified JK Rowling as the author of The Cuckoo's Calling. He previously held positions as a software engineer of brain and cognitive sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as a postdoctoral research associate of experimental psychology at Oxford University, and as an associate professor of computer science at Duquesne University. He is currently an adjunct scientist at the Human Language Technology Center at a prominent university in Maryland, the director of the Evaluating Variations in Language Laboratory and a professor of computer science at a university in Pennsylvania, and the founder and director of a forensic text analysis consultancy based in Pennsylvania.
