Dr. Michael J. Birrer has over 36 years of experience in the fields of Internal Medicine with expertise in Medical and Gynecologic Oncology. He earned his BS in Biology and Philosophy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his MS and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology, and his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, he went on to complete a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. Today, this expert is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. Formerly, this expert held roles as the Chief of the Molecular Mechanisms Section at the National Cancer Institute Center for Cancer Research, as a Professor in the Pathology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, and as the Evalina B. Spencer Chair of Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Cancer Service Line and as a Medical Oncologist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, and as the Vice Chancellor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine.
