Dr. Louis Almekinders, MD

Dr. Louis Almekinders, MD has over 30 years of experience in orthopedic surgery, specializing in sports medicine. He earned his BS from Erasmus University and his MD from Erasmus University Medical School in The Netherlands and moved to the United States shortly after. Upon his move, he completed his internship in general surgery at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of North Carolina, and his fellowship in orthopedic research at Duke University Medical Center. Today, this expert is board certified in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. He stays active in his field as a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Orthopedic Association, and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
