Dr. Katherine K. Matthay has 43 years of experience in the field of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. She earned her BA in Chemistry from Bryn Mawr College and her MD from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. After completing both an internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, she went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the UCSF Medical Center. Today, this expert is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. Formerly, this expert served as the Leader of the Pediatric Malignancies Program at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Day Treatment Center at the UCSF Medical Center. She was also the Director of the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship and Chief of the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Division at the UCSF Medical Center. She currently serves as a Professor (Recalled Faculty) and as a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Pediatrics at the UCSF School of Medicine, where she also holds the title of Mildred V. Strouss Endowed Chair in Translational Research in Pediatric Oncology. She is also the Chief of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, where she also serves as an Attending Physician on the Pediatric Oncology Service and the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Service. Moreover, she is also an Associate at the UCSF Brain Tumor Center.
