Dr. John Sheppard, MD

This , board-certified expert has over 30 years of experience in ophthalmology. He earned his BS in biology, his MS in medicine, and his MD from Brown University. He then went on to complete an internship in pediatrics at the University of Virginia, a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh, and a fellowship in research, cornea, and uveitis at the University of California, San Francisco. He is an active member of his professional field belonging to a number of associations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He is well-published in his field and is on the editorial board of numerous academic journals. This expert previously served in the medical corps of the United States Navy before moving on to complete his specialized medical training in ophthalmology. He was a cornea and uveitis consultant at NRMS Portsmouth and the director of the ocular microbiology lab and program director of ophthalmology residency education at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Currently, this expert holds a number of positions including serving as an associate and medical director of an eye bank, as a physician and president of an eye center, as a physician and surgeon at an eye institute, and as an ophthalmologist at a hospital.
