Dr. Hal Wortzel has 14 years of experience in the fields of Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry. He earned his BA from Amherst College and his MD from the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. After completing an internship in Orthopedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, he completed a residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a two-year combined fellowship in Advanced Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the VA’s Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center, which emphasized research in suicidology. Today, this expert is board certified in Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. Formerly, this expert served as the Director of the MIRECC Fellowship for the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology, and as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He currently serves as a Mickael K. Cooper Professor of Neurocognitive Disease, as the Director of the Neuropsychiatry Service, and as a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He also serves as a Staff Physician at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center and as a Consultant and Psychiatrist at Hal S. Wortzel MD, LLC.
