Dr. Christopher Portier

Dr. Christopher Portier has over 40 years of experience studying toxicology, environmental hazards, and cancer causation. He obtained his BS in mathematics from Nicholls State University, before going to receive both his MS and PhD in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Today, this expert is an active member of the Society of Toxicology and the American Public Health Association, and he has been elected a fellow of the International Statistics Institute, the World Innovation Foundation, the American Statistical Association, and the Collegium Ramazaaini. Additionally, he has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and he has received multiple awards, including the President's Dream Green Team Award from President Obama, the Spiegelman Award from the American Public Health Association, and the Outstanding Practitioners of the Year Award from the International Society for Risk Analysis. Formerly, this expert served as the director of the environmental toxicology program, as the director of the office of risk assessment research, and as the senior advisor to the director, all at the National Institue of Environmental Health Sciences. He has also worked as the director of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and as the director of the National Center for Environmental Health within the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Currently, this expert is a consultant for various governmental agencies abroad and in the United States, a senior contributing scientist for a major nonprofit environmental advocacy group in New York, an adjunct professor in the department of environmental health at a top university in Georgia, and a visiting professor in the department of toxicogenomics at a university in the Netherlands.
