This expert is the Medical Director of the Center for Advanced Wound Care at an academic medical center in New Jersey. She started her career in wound care after completing residencies in Surgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and fellowships at UCSF in Trauma and Burns/Wound Healing and in Surgical Critical Care at Johns Hopkins University. She served as an expert panel member for the National Institute of Health to write guidelines for the treatment of pressure ulcers and venous ulcers. Her research concerns the role of oxygen and lactate in the biochemistry of tissue repair. She is an active member of the Pressure Ulcer Standards Group, the Venous Ulcer Standards Group and the Arterial Ulcer Standards Group of the Wound Healing Society and Wound Healing Foundation.
