This supremely qualified Otolaryngology expert is Professor of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He served as the Howard W. Smith Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center from 1994 to 2013. He received his medical degree with honors (AOA) from Baylor College of Medicine and trained in general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by specialty training in Otolaryngology at Baylor College of Medicine affiliated hospitals. He completed fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgery at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute. This expert is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, over 25 book chapters and 2 textbooks. He has served as president of several prestigious academic societies, including the Society of University Otolaryngologists and the Association of Academic Departments of Otolaryngology. He has lectured at over 50 international academic institutions and has served on the editorial boards of several scientific journals, including The Laryngoscope, Head and Neck, and Cancer. He is a lifetime member of the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars and has received both the Presidential Citation and the Vice-Presidential Citation of the Triological Society. He has been listed as one of New York City's best doctors for the past 15 years. In addition to his Otolaryngology appointments he is also a Professor of Neurology at a major university medical center.
