This expert has been practicing for over 30 years. She received her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of California, Berkeley and completed a fellowship in Epidemiology there as well. She has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and sits on the Editorial Board of "Pediatric and Perinatal Research", the "American Journal of Public Health", "Pediatrics", "Annals of Internal Medicine", and "Autism Research". She is a member of the Scientific Review Committee for the National Institutes of Neurological Diseases and Stroke, the American Public Health Association, and the Society for Epidemiological Research, and is the recipient of awards such as TIME Magazine's Top Ten Parenting Finding of 2011. Currently, this expert is a Professor of Nursing at a major medical university, where she serves as the Chair of the Department of Biobehavioral Health Sciences, and Director of the Masters of Public Health Program as well. She is also the Director of a major center for autism and developmental disabilities research and epidemiology, which is one of six such centers funded by the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
