This highly qualified expert graduated with Honors and Distinction in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. She completed her medical training at Harvard University and medical residency at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), followed by general cardiology training and advanced training in heart failure, heart transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, and echocardiography at UCSF. She then joined the faculty at UCSF while concomitantly earning a Masters Degree in Clinical Research and Epidemiology. Currently this expert is on the faculty in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at a prestigious California medical university, where she focuses on clinical and translational research in the field of heart transplantation. Since her appointment she has received a Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health as well as research grants from the American Heart Association and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. Her research focuses on the evaluation and selection of donors for heart transplantation; the pathogenesis of post-transplant complications, including acute rejection and cardiac allograft vasculopathy; and non-invasive diagnosis of post-transplant complications. She currently serves on an ad hoc committee appointed by the US Department of Health and Human Services that has been charged with improving outcomes in donor management practices. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and is a peer reviewer for the NIH. Also at her current university, she is the program director of the advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship.
