Expert Qualifications

This qualified expert has 45 years of experience in psychiatry and bioethics. He earned his BA from Swarthmore College and continued on to earn his MD from Case Western Reserve University. He then completed an internship in pediatrics and a residency in psychiatry at University Hospitals of Cleveland. This expert is board-certified in psychiatry. He began his career in the field as a psychiatrist for a private practice and an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University. He then went on to eventually boast the title of tenured professor of medicine, psychiatry, and biomedical ethics at Case Western Reserve University. His other former positions include serving as director of the Center for Biomedical Ethics and chairman for the Department of Bioethics. This expert is very involved in research pertaining to end-of-life decision making, having authored numerous scientific articles on the subject. Throughout his career, he has also served on various national committees concerning bioethics. He has received several awards for his work, including the Distinguished Service Award from the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities. Currently, this expert is a professor of bioethics and psychiatry at a university in Ohio.
