While at the University of Arkansas he completed a BS in chemistry and a BS in biology, he then went to the University of Texas where he completed a PhD in biochemistry. He is active in the field as a member of the American Physics Society and the American Chemical Society. He previously was a laboratory technician for Tyson Food, an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Central Arkansas, and an instructor at Pulaski Technical College. For 15 years he has served as a health physicist in the radiation control section for a state health service in Arkansas.
