Expert Qualifications

This expert is a licensed Architect, planner, and educator, who focuses on issues in Sustainability and Professional Practice across a range of building types. His 25 years of architectural experience has encompassed a wide range of building types both large and small, in varied locations around the country. Over his career, he has worked closely with acclaimed architects on complex projects to help their design goals overcome the challenges of contemporary construction. He is currently a Principal Project Planner for the Capital Programs of a prominent California University, with specialty in sustainable design and construction of new buildings and major remodels, from initial studies through construction and into post-occupancy. He has helped over 30 campus projects achieve certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Rating System, many at Platinum level. LEED is an internationally-recognized standard that stands for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design," that has dramatically shifted construction industry practices toward healthier environments that conserve water, energy, and other resources. Recent projects include the Luskin Conference Center, Hitch and Saxon Residences, Fielding School of Public Health, Geffen Hall, Engineering 6, Pauley Pavilion, the Court of Sciences Student Center, Boelter Hall, the Edie and Lew Wasserman Building, the Young Research Library, and the Spieker Aquatic Center, and Mira Hershey Hall. This expert is also a Lecturer for a prominent California University’s Department of Architecture and Urban Design, focusing on Professional Practice, Liability, and Construction. As the Architect Licensing Advisor for the campus, he advises and mentors candidates in the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and conducts preparatory workshops for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) to prepare students for Licensure.
