Expert Qualifications

This expert has over 45 years of experience in the field of alcohol research, alcohol industry standards, and drinking behavior. He earned his BA in anthropology and forestry from the University of Montana before earning both his MA and PhD in cultural anthropology from SUNY Buffalo. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in biomedical research at the University of North Carolina Medical School and is a member of the New York State Council on Problem Gambling. This expert is active in research in his field, having authored several peer-reviewed scientific articles and two books, as well as served internationally as a lecturer on alcohol-related topics. He previously served as the director of alcohol & drug abuse programming at the University of Minnesota, as the founder & associate director of the Center for Addiction Studies, and as the director of alcohol & drug prevention at SUNY System Administration. This expert is currently an independent drinking, gambling, and smoking consultant in New York.
