This highly qualified trauma expert specializes in trauma, violence, and post traumatic stress disorder. She received a B.A. in English, History, and Psychology from the University of Durban-Westville; a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College; an Ed.M in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University; and a EdD. in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. Elected as a Fellow to the American Psychological Association, she was a first responder to both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina and has authored two books: A Practical approach to Trauma and Crisis and Disaster Counseling: lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina. She has presented both nationally and internationally on violence and trauma. She currently serves as a Chair and Professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington DC and a Psychologist at Georgetown University Department of Psychiatry, and as a Consultant to companies concerning workplace violence. She has been recognized as a PTSD expert witness and in this capacity consulted with DC and Baltimore law firms.
