He subsequently completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Texas and a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Alabama. He completed an additional fellowship in advanced therapeutic endoscopy/ERCP and endoscopic ultrasonography with Drs. Marc Catalano and Joseph Geenen.
